I’m fortunate to be able to pursue my love of motorsport, and have participated in over 30 races.

This kicked me into gear, and I built a strategic plan to scale and reach the goals I’d set out for myself and the business. Sure enough, we got there!

Early jobs before recruitment…

• Followed in my father’s footsteps and started working as a capstan machine lathe turner. This wasn’t for me. 
 
• Went to work as a warehouse operative picking and packing for a tool distributor. They moved out of the area, and I left the company.

• I applied to join the Parachute Regiment.

• Started delivering beer before joining the army.

• Joined (and soon left) the army.

• Went to work as a glass cutter.

The start of my career in recruitment…

• Start working as a recruitment consultant for CDI International. I’m commuting daily from Rugby to Birmingham on a Vespa.

• Headhunted by ABC Recruitment and join Heman Contracts.

• Early 1990s: Start Skillman Contracts Limited.

• Start Maddison Group payroll business.

The start of my career in recruitment…

1990 - 2011

• Bought Leith Contracts in Edinburgh.

• Opened Now Careers offices in Newcastle and Nottingham.

• Acquired Breeze Resources in Watford.

• Opened Now Accountancy in Cardiff.

• Start Now Careers in Sydney.

2012

• Sell Maddison Group

• Started Now Education Limited, based in Birmingham

2019

• Sold most of the Now Career Brands

• Launch of Now Education Group with its Shared Equity Model, open offices in Nottingham, Liverpool, Lincoln, Cardiff, London, Leeds

2024

• Sold my majority shareholding in Now Education Group, I still remain a growth shareholder and advisor

• Now Careers operates from Birmingham, where it all started in the Construction sector
